aabout marriage

i am seperated now this time almost 3 years now... me and my ex husdand are married in municipality in our place and i did get an autenticated copy of marriege certificate,, but in other part my ex husbund is married before on her first wife in other municipality in major i think , is our marriage and papers are legal,, because all of my documents is already on her surname and am using it now.... what should i do... thank u and hope ony your answer,, god bless

If your husband was not legally divorced from his first wife, then you were never legally married. But if you lived together long enough, you would be considered his common law wife. Also, if you discover he was never divorced, then his surname cannot be used by you on any legal documents. You should change the names on all your legal documents back to your own surname! If he was indeed divorced, then both you and his first wife can legally use his surname!...
