remote controle from a wire

i am building a small car for my kids that runs up and down the drive way and I dont want to put it on a track i want it to run of a wire frequency where I can burry a line in the ground exactly 10 feet from the side of the drive way to make the car start in the garage go out to the end of the drive way and come back to the garage. i just want to be able to push a button to go out and hit a button to come back to the garage. any help on a systme I could use would be appriciated

? You are trying to making something far too complicated and in a very awkward fashion. Why does it have to go out and straight back again? Why are you fixed on the idea of using buried wires if its only going back and forth? Does it turn at the bottom of the drive? A Motor with a timer circuit(adjustable to the length of the drive) attached would do the job easily and off the shelf remote control modules. If the wheels are locked it will go back and forth.
