Wind is no good because you have to have the backup going all the time anyway.

Solar energy can be harnessed all over the planet. It is more universal. Wind would be second. We got lots of people full of hot air on this planet:%Pr

In India, solar electric using photovolteic panels would be reliable although expensive to install. If you live in a windy area, wind power would work, but intermittantly, although if you use a bank of batteries that would ensure continuity of supply.
