The risk of injury is highest in the giant slalom skiing event, and next would be gymnastics. The triathalon is gruelling, yet only one death was reported, and that was because the athlete was on amphetimines! There is risk of injury in most Olympic events, but the athletes are the best in the world, and serious injury at the Olympic level is rare.
