The longest major league game, by innings, was in 1920 between the Boston Braves and Brooklyn Robins (Dodgers). Final score, 1-1 tie, called on account of darkness -- after 26 innings.
More recently, the White Sox and Brewers played 25 innings in 1984 -- a game which did run up against the curfew, as the rules were a bit different back then (suspended at the end of the 17th) -- and was played to completion...
