how can i find out if my computer has been used the previous or current day?

One way is to check the history on your browser. This can be removed however.
Another way is to install a keylogger. That way you can tell exactly what was done....

If you have Windows 2000 or Windows XP
Check the Event Log
Right Click "My Computer"
Click Manage
Under System Tools you see the Event Viewer
Check the logs it should have random logs during the time its on and under system should also tell you when its turned on or off
