missed period
Asked by: jamesjokitty from -
I gave birth to my daughter 8 months ago and breastfed for 4 months. i started my periods almost straight away even though i was breastfeeding. However for the last 2 months my periods have been all over the place. last month i was 10 days late, i did a test and it was negative, but this month i am nearly 3 weeks late. i have not done a test..... yet, but i am also a little worried if this is normal? As my periods have always been like clock work.

Getting periods back after birth is highly variable.
In this case it sounds like you should have a checkup from your gynecologist.

After you stop breastfeeding, expect your periods to be irregular for three or four months, unless you go on birth control, which regulates them sooner. This happened to me with all three of my children, and my periods were like clockwork too! I had to go on the pill for a year after each one and after that, I had no problem. The important thing to remember is that if your periods are irregular, so is ovulation, and it's easy to get pregnant during this time! Good luck!...
