Why do you get an electrical shock standing on wood floorboards

When you deal with an electrical conductor whlist standing on wood floorboards, why do you receive an electrical shock also, wood is suppose to be a good insulator?

Yes it is an insulator but you are completing the circuit (through your body) with the ring main (parallel circuit) of the house. The floor has nothing to do with it. You would still get the shock if you were floating in thin air wearing rubber socks!
