I also breastfed my daughter, but if I was in public, I'd go to my car or into the ladies room to do it. There are some women that are so good at it, you wouldn't even know they are doing it. My step-daughter is one of those women. She is very discreet. I guess it depends on how discreet you can be. Some people are naturally crude, and don't care what people think.

I sure do! I did with my son. No matter where I was and if it was time to feed him then I did. I was discreet about it. I see it as, why should you hide it from the world. It is a natural thing. Mother's should be proud to breast feed no matter what.

I agree that to avoid the confrontation with close-minded people it might be easier to do what you did and what many others do as well, but there is nothing inherently bad about breast feeding in public.

There are many places here in Australia that have signs saying "breast feeding welcomed" to let women feel more comfortable feeding their children and I think those places are fantastic.
