Well i don't and feel better not doing it . I think it's because I'm from the old school and took a lot of pride in my best subject, English. However my Aunty and Uncle who are in their 70's and learning the computer do abbreviate the words.

I do, cuz alot txt messages only allow so many words/letters. so for the words "you" - u, "are" - r, "to" - 2 and "for" 4. i find it alot quicker and in most of my sentences i just omit the vowels in most words. Its still eligible to the reader and you can get alot more said in your text message.

I use it a lot with my kids and my friends. u,r,2,4, btw, thnx and so on. I never use these short cuts while writing business letters or chatting business which is not cosidered right.
I enjoy the short cuts as it saves my time and my energy to punch keys on KB.

I most certainly do. For people not on my Verizon network my messages need to be under 160 characters or anything past those 160 characters is NOT sent. That's a problem for me constantly because I have A LOT to say most of the time. Even with people on the same network as it it just saves me time and my fingers get less tired.
