why is my wife so dominant since birth of our 3rd child

why did my wife become so dominant,mean & controlling towards me during the last 3 months of pregnancy and ever since (2 years later now) she started getting hostile yelling throwing things, mean,slaping me for a few weeks,body checking & shoving me, manipulitive, lying--demanding i move out while still pregnant--wanting divorce/seperation/wouldnt let me bond w/ new baby or wouldnt let me do things w/ other two children-wouldnt go see a doctor w/ me and started keeping everything secret including her medical and our kids--i became her enemy/she hated me after 10 yrs of marriage / to many other things to mention/she isolated me from everyone/denies everything&says its all me/ she is 44 now / 42 then--i refused to abandone my family all along--she finally had me removed dec.07--filed divorce--im now in an apartment--devastated/answers PLEASE

Sorry to hear that you're going throught such a difficult time. It sounds to me, and it's just a gut feeling, that your wife may have post-partum depression/psychosis. It used to be a woman might get a case of the baby blues that would last a couple weeks to 2 months tops. Nowadays, and it's unknown why, women are having to deal with more severe hormonal and emotional changes, as a result of pregnancy. The source is a whole site of psycho-moms. Blame it on hormones! Sometimes medication is needed. Your not alone. I am sorry that yours went further than most do. Encourage her to get treatment. Soon!

Three factors are intermingled here - post natal depression, mid-life crisis, and premenopausal mood swings. She may have become so overwhelmed by the stress of caring for yet a third child, that she had to blame someone! Since you got her pregnant, she made you the enemy! Remember, you're not dealing with a rational mind here! She definitely needs psychiatric intervention, but you can't force her to get it! WOW. Probably one of the worst cases of post-partum I've ever heard. Also, I have a tough question to ask you...are you absolutely SURE the 3rd one is yours(no offense)? The only other thing I can think of, in addition to post-partum, is that perhaps she was involved with someone during the marriage. I know that sounds horrible.
