Sociopaths

The only sociopaths we hear about are the ones who become criminals, like serial killers and rapists. Are there sociopaths who function well, and successfully in society? I had an employer once who didn't care about anyone but himself - he walked over people, back-stabbed them, lied about them to further his own selfish need to be the head honcho! He did all this with a smile on his face! Could he be a sociopath?
