a/ -6 = 7

Multiply each side by '-6' (Move -6 to the other side)

a = -6 x 7
a = -42

This simplifies to -6x7 = a = -42.

You can divide a negative number by another negative number but be careful when dividing a positive by a negative number or when dividing anything by zero.
