I just think they have different views to us their concern is to be the provider and they believe that is all they need to do it is up to us women to implement into the relationship how we want to be treated etc.

Men are traditionally thought of as being less emotional than women but the evidence points more towards a situation where men tend to show emotions that are bad for them and the people around them. Here is a quick overview of some of the research findings about men, their emotional expressions and their health.

Compared to Women:
# there is substantial evidence to show that men have more difficulty in expressing their emotions and exert greater controls over the expression of emotions.
# men spend more time ruminating over negative emotions.
# men share their emotions with far fewer.
# men express emotions with less intensity.
# men use less emotional language and fewer 'emotion' words.
# behavior seems less affected by expressions of emotion.
# men are more likely to under-report negative feelings.
# men are more willing to express emotions likely to be viewed as demonstrating power or control.

The Differences Explained
Most theorists agree that biological differences between men and women cannot explain differences in emotional expression. In terms of the supposed lack of emotion in men a more plausible explanation is the number and extent of social experiences men encounter from childhood that inhibit emotional expression. It has been pointed out that men and women live in different worlds when it comes to emotional expression. From early childhood most boys are exposed to fewer emotion-oriented conversations and are not encouraged to express emotions verbally. Yet, for example, the expression of rage if personal possessions or status is threatened, is seen not only as typically male, but in some situations encouraged and admired. The point is that men appear to experience exactly the same emotions as women but their expression is often and typically very different.

Men's Health & Emotional Expression
A well known psychologist, James Pennebaker, has demonstrated that emotional expressions can benefit health by the simple device of keeping a diary. The diary provides a outlet for emotional expression and not only appears to have a positive emotional effect but improves immune function as well. In fact written emotional expression has been researched in terms of benefits to physical health, physiological functioning and daily living activities; in each case with positive findings. Could the simple act of keeping a diary be a useful compromise for men and bridge the gap between their inability to transmit, receive and manage emotional messages?

The crux of the problem here is incompatibility and people should accept that it is too much to ask that another human, (male or female) can meet all their needs emotionally or otherwise...as Nick Nolte said in the film Mullholland Falls "carry your own water"

men like to seem as they are stong not weak and in there eyes emotion is weak, that is not to mean that they dont have emotions they just like to hide them. i beleive men are more emotional than women in some respects. women like to wear there emotions on ther sleave so to speak and express there feelings. it takes a lot for a man to trust anyone with his emotions so its not somthing to worry about if you are. life would be boring if we were all the same....

because men are numb from the brain down when it comes to emotions, we consider it a weakness to show our emotions therefore a chink in our armour made of macho.

Apparently it's the neurons that process things such as fear and agression and how it hooks up with the brain.

In men this particular cluster of neurons "talks with" the areas of the brain that help them respond to sensors outside of the body such as visual cortex and motor actions.

In women howeverit is the opposite and these neurons shoot to the areas of the brain that help them to respond to sensors inside the body".

There's still a lot of researching being done in to it, but essentailly the emotional wiring in the 2 sexes is different and the results have come about through a process of evolution.

Of course this is the completely scientific view and ignores any other stimuli within society as a whole that has grown out of these differences. I suppose what I am saying is that scientifically there is a different, but it is human beings within societies that have developed and enhanced the differences between the two. Sex is biological, but gender (think about our notions of what is masuculine and what is feminine) is socially constructed.

Here's a thought .. .because they are MEN!!! Sorry ladies, we are never going to change them and quite frankly, if I wanted me, I would date myself. I like the differences. Yes, sometimes I would like for my man to be on the same page, but that's not always going to happen. Perhaps Gloria Steinam (spl?) is going to freak out about this, but I want my MAN to be a MAN!!!
