You will need the following:
- A domain name (so people can get to your website without knowing the IP address of the server)
- A hosting package (you can host on your own if you have the resources and the bandwidth, but I've found that it's almost always much easier and cheaper to leave the system administration to other people while I focus on the website design and functionality)
- A design. This may be the most important part (of course, I'm a designer so I would say that). If you are already good with CSS and designing layouts, this should be right up your alley.
- Time. Once you get your website up, if you become popular you may well be overwhelmed with requests and problems being reported on your website. Make sure you have the time to handle these requests or people could lose interest in your idea because the problems never seem to be solved.
